At Willis High School, we have three UIL competitive bands: Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Wind Ensemble. All members of the individual bands are simultaneously members of the WHS Marching Band and Color Guard. The students are a cohesive group who refer to themselves as a band family.
The Color Guard is where the visual component and musical component collide. The Color Guard is what elevates and brings to life the visual package of the marching band! In Color Guard, students learn how to incorporate dance, body movement, and equipment to enhance the visual package of the marching band.
Like percussion, the Color Guard is comprised of multiple seasons. First, being a component of the marching band. In the winter/spring, these students also participate in winter guard, where they will compete and gain guard-specific skills. We aim to make our students well-rounded dancers/musicians.
